How to fix some common issues with your Monero (XMR) inside of Exodus wallet.

Need a crypto wallet that gives you full control of your assets? You can download Exodus here.

Wallet block height

What is the wallet block height?

Monero works a little differently from other coins because of its privacy characteristics. While other assets pull data from the blockchain directly to reflect the balances in the wallet, Monero has to download the data from its blockchain.

By default, Exodus only downloads the most recent Monero block data for new wallets, and the wallet block height is the block your Monero wallet is downloading data from.

What does resetting the wallet block height do?

When you reset your wallet block height, you choose which block you want to begin downloading data from.

For a new Monero wallet, you don't need to download old block data because you know you don't have a transaction history that goes back that far. Unless you have an older Monero wallet, downloading old block data is unnecessary.

However, there may be instances where you will need to reset the wallet block height to help sync your Monero wallet.

You can't set a block height in your Trezor Monero wallet that is different from the block height in your Exodus Monero wallet.

If you don't know your wallet block height, you can try resetting your wallet block height to block 1757335 because that is the earliest block possible to have sent or received a Monero transaction in Exodus. However, this might take a long time, as this is a lot of blocks to download. We recommend that if you know the block height of your earliest transaction, you use that block instead.

To find the block on which your first Monero transaction took place, go to your Monero wallet. Then, in your earliest XMR deposit, click on the transaction ID. Clicking on the transaction ID in your wallet will take you to a block explorer on your browser. There you can see the block your transaction was confirmed on. You can use this guide to help you find your transaction ID: How do I find a transaction ID?

Alternatively, if you know the year of your XMR transaction, you can reset your wallet block height to the following blocks:

Why can't I send or swap Monero?

Older version of Exodus

If you are using an older version of Exodus, you might not be able to send Monero from your wallet.

First, update your wallet to the latest version:

After the update, you can refresh your Monero wallet.

Waiting for Monero transaction to reach 10 confirmations

If you see a message in your wallet like the one below, please don't worry! Monero deposits require 10 confirmations on the blockchain before your Monero is available in Exodus.

If your deposit is still pending, you must wait for the transaction to reach at least 10 confirmations on the blockchain confirmed before the Monero is available. Typically, this should not take more than 20 minutes. However, during periods of high network traffic, it may take longer.

You can always check your pending transaction on the blockchain. To do this, click on the Pending transaction in Exodus and then click the transaction ID. This will open a new tab in your browser where you can see the current network status of your transaction and the number of confirmations.
