What is a BIP70 or BitPay invoice?

A BIP70 and BitPay invoice is a payment request that contains information such as the recipient's address and the amount to pay. The sender can use the invoice to retrieve the payment details. This way, you don't have to enter information such as the address and amount manually. BIP70 and BitPay payment requests are sometimes used by merchants to send payment requests to customers.

In Exodus Mobile and Desktop, you can pay BIP70 or BitPay invoices using Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Ethereum (ETH).


How do I pay a BIP70 or BitPay invoice from Exodus?

You can pay BIP70 or BitPay invoices with Exodus Mobile or Desktop. Here's how:

Mobile

  1. a) Tap the Wallet icon, then b) tap the asset you want to send (we'll use BTC as an example).

  2. Tap the Send icon.

  3. Next, you will need the BIP70 or BitPay invoice you want to pay. The BIP70 or BitPay invoice can be a payment URL or a QR code.

    BIP70 or BitPay invoice URLs usually have the following format:

  4. a) Paste the URL into the address field, or b) tap the scan icon to scan the QR code in Exodus.

  5. The receiving address and amount will auto-populate. You will see other invoice details at the bottom section of the Send window. Verify them and click Send before the clock expires.


Desktop

  1. a) Click the Wallet icon, b) click the asset you want to send (we'll use BTC as an example), then c) click Send.

  2. Next, you will need the BIP70 or BitPay invoice you want to pay. The BIP70 or BitPay invoice can be a payment URL or a QR code.
