Huobi ECO Chain troubleshooting

Common issues with your Huobi ECO Chain assets (HRC20) inside of Exodus wallet and how to fix them.

In this article:

How is it possible to send to the wrong address?

The Huobi ECO Chain is a decentralized public chain designed to enable faster transactions with more cost-effective network fees.

However, while using the Huobi ECO Chain can help reduce network fees when moving assets, it's important to note that currently, Exodus doesn't support the Huobi network.

The Huobi ECO Chain is fully compatible with Ethereum and ERC-20 smart contracts, and is currently supported at the KuCoin exchange.

What this means is that it's possible to withdraw Ethereum (ETH) or another Ethereum-based asset to your Exodus wallet using the Huobi ECO Chain.

Sending an Ethereum-based asset using the Huobi ECO Chain will get the asset to the destination address, but it won't be visible in your Exodus wallet because the Huobi ECO Chain isn't supported.

Not to worry, as the guides below will help you retrieve HRC20-pegged tokens sent to your Exodus and Trezor ETH wallets!

How do I recover my Huobi ECO Chain asset sent to my Exodus address?

Huobi recently released their HRC20 token standard on the Huobi ECO Chain. With this introduction came many assets that have an HRC20 version.

What this means is that it is possible to accidentally choose the wrong network when withdrawing your asset to your Exodus wallet address, even though we don't support the Huobi ECO Chain for these assets.

Do not worry though! This article will show you how you can retrieve your Huobi ECO Chain assets sent to your Exodus wallet.

HRC20 token sent to Exodus Desktop

To retrieve your HRC20 assets will require the use of a desktop computer and MetaMask, but it only takes a few minutes!

1
Go to MetaMask's website and download the MetaMask wallet.
2
Now open your Exodus wallet, and open the asset wallet that you accidentally sent your HRC20 asset to.
3
Export the private key from the wallet inside of Exodus. Here's how you can obtain your Private Key: How do I view my private keys?
4
Open MetaMask and import your private key by clicking on Import Account.
5

After importing your private key, a) click on Ethereum Mainnet at the top of the MetaMask wallet screen and b) select Add Network.

6
Your browser will open a new tab in which you can copy and paste these details in the relevant sections:
a) Network Name: HECO mainnet
b) RPC: https://http-mainnet.hecochain.com/
c) ChainID: 128
d) Symbol: HT
e) Block Explorer: https://scan.hecochain.com/

Then click Save.
7
Now open MetaMask and go to the bottom and click on Import tokens.

8
After you click on Import tokens you will see you need to find the Token Contract Address. To find the contract address all you need to do is:
  1. Open the HRC token list and find the asset you accidentally sent to and click on it.
  2. Under Profile Summary in the top right you will see Contract, copy the contract address.

9
Now back in MetaMask, paste in the contract address and the rest of the information should appear by itself. Then click Add Custom Token.

You should now see your HRC tokens appear, just click Import Tokens.

10

Finally, send your HRC20 tokens back to the address where you originally sent them from.

You'll need some Huobi Tokens (HT) in the wallet before you can move your funds out of MetaMask. You can use this Coinmarketcap list to find where to purchase some.

HRC20 token sent to Exodus Mobile

Retrieving your HRC20 assets will require the use of a desktop computer and MetaMask, but it only takes a few minutes!

1
First, you'll need to download the Desktop version of Exodus here.
2
Next, write down your mobile wallet's 12-word secret recovery phrase. To find this, see this guide.

These 12-words are your master key for your wallet. It is incredibly important for you to keep your 12-word phrase safe as it is the only way to recover your funds should something happen to your wallet. Read more in our article Everything you need to know about your 12-word secret recovery phrase for tips on keeping your 12-word phrase safe.

3
Now you will need to restore your mobile wallet to the desktop wallet you just downloaded. To do this, read this guide.
4
The rest of the instructions are the same as above in the HRC20 token sent to Exodus Desktop section.

If you do not have access to a trusted computer, you can retrieve your mainnet HECO tokens with your 12-word secret recovery phrase and the MetaMask mobile app.

This process is not recommended unless you do not have a trusted desktop computer, as it exposes your Exodus 12-word secret recovery phrase. Desktop methods only use the private key of one asset, which is far more secure. You can read more about the risks of using your 12-word secret recovery phrase here: Using the secret 12-word secret recovery phrase.

1
Go to MetaMask's website and install the mobile MetaMask wallet. Tap on Import using Secret Recovery Phrase.

2
Enter your Exodus 12-word secret recovery phrase with a space between each word. Set a strong password and tap Import.

3
Next, tap the three bars at the top left of your screen.

4
Tap Settings.

5
Tap Networks.

6
Tap the Add Network button.

7
Then, copy and paste these details in the relevant sections:
a) Network Name: HECO mainnet
b) RPC: https://http-mainnet.hecochain.com
c) ChainID: 128
d) Symbol: HT
e) Block Explorer: https://scan.hecochain.com/

Then tap Add.
8

If you sent a Huobi Token (HT) over the Huobi ECO Chain network, it should now appear in your MetaMask wallet. However, if you sent a different token you will need to go to the bottom of the MetaMask wallet and tap on Import tokens.

9
After you tap on Import tokens you will see you need to find the Token Contract Address. To find the contract address all you need to do is:
  1. Open the HECO Chain token list, find the token you accidentally sent, and tap on it.
  2. Under Profile Summary in the top right you will see Contract, then copy the contract address.

10
Next, back in MetaMask, paste in the contract address and the rest of the information should appear by itself. Then tap  Import.

11
You should now see your token appear.

12

Finally, send your tokens back to the original address where you sent them from!

You'll need some HT on the HECO Chain network in the wallet before moving your funds out of MetaMask.

HRC20 token sent to Trezor

To recover unsupported HRC20 tokens sent to a Trezor, you can follow this recovery guide: How to recover unsupported EVM tokens sent to Trezor?

You will need the Huobi ECO Chain RPC details when adding Huobi ECO Chain as a custom network to MetaMask. You can find the Huobi ECO Chain RPC details here: Huobi ECO Chain RPC
