How do I manage unsupported Ethereum NFTs?

Here is how you can recover unsupported Ethereum NFTs from your Exodus Ethereum address.

Desktop

Retrieving your Ethereum NFTs will require using the Exodus desktop app and the MEW wallet. Here's what you'll need to do:

1
In Exodus, open your Ethereum (ETH) wallet.
2
View and copy your Ethereum private key. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do so: How do I view my private keys?.

Please note: Your private key controls your funds, so it is important to keep it secret. Anyone with your private key will have access to your funds, so please don’t share them with anyone, including Exodus Support!

3
Go to myetherwallet.com, then click Access My Wallet.

4
From the available options, click Software.

5
Click Private Key.

6
a) Paste in your Exodus Ethereum private key that you copied in step 2. b) Read the terms, then click the circle to accept the terms, then c) click Access Wallet.

7
Once you have imported your Exodus wallet into MEW, in the left tab click NFT Manager.

8
In this menu, you will be able to see all of the NFTs held in your Ethereum address. If you want to send out the NFT, click the send button next to the NFT you want to send.

9
a) Enter or paste the Ethereum address that you want to send the NFT to, then b) click send. Make sure that you send the NFT to a wallet or platform that supports Ethereum NFTs.

10
a) Check the transaction details and the transaction fee, make sure that everything is correct as it is not possible to reverse an NFT transaction. b) To send the NFT click Confirm & Send.

Please note: Sending an Ethereum NFT will require Ethereum (ETH) to power the transaction on the Ethereum network.

Your unsupported NFT has now been sent and as soon as the transaction confirms it will arrive in the receiving wallet. You can also keep the NFT in your Exodus Ethereum wallet, however, the NFT will not show in the Exodus wallet and you have to import your private key into a wallet that supports Ethereum NFTs, as shown in the guide above.

Mobile

Retrieving your NFTs should ideally be done using the desktop app as outlined above. If you have a trusted desktop device you can sync your mobile wallet to the desktop and then follow the steps mentioned above to recover your NFT

However, if you do not have access to a trusted computer, you can retrieve your NFTs with your 12-word secret recovery phrase and the MetaMask mobile app.

This process is only recommended if you do not have a trusted computer because it exposes your Exodus 12-word secret recovery phrase. Your 12-word phrase should only be used when absolutely necessary. Desktop methods only use your Ethereum private key which is a far more secure method of recovery. You can read more about the risks of using your 12-word phrase here: Using the 12-word phrase.

1
Go to MetaMask and install the mobile MetaMask wallet.
2
Tap on Import using Secret Recovery Phrase.

3
Enter your Exodus 12-word phrase with a space between each word. Set a strong password, then tap Import.

Please note: Your 12-word secret recovery phrase controls your funds, so it is important to keep it secret. Anyone with your 12-word phrase will have access to your funds, so please don’t share it with anyone, including Exodus Support!

4
Enable NFT autodetection, here is a guide on how you can enable NFT detection in the MetaMask mobile wallet: NFT tokens in your MetaMask wallet - Enable NFT autodetection.

Please note: If you can not enable Autodetect NFTs make sure you also have toggled on Enable OpenSea API.

5
Once you have enabled the automatic NFT detection, your NFTs will show up in the NFT tab of your MetaMask mobile wallet.

6
If you want to send out your NFT you can tap on the NFT you want to send.

7
To send the NFT tap Send.

8
a) Enter or paste the Ethereum address that you want to send the NFT to, then b) tap Next. Make sure that you send the NFT to a wallet or platform that supports Ethereum NFTs.

9
a) Confirm that you have chosen the correct NFT that you want to send, then b) tap Next.

10
a) Check the transaction details and the transaction fee, make sure that everything is correct as it is not possible to reverse an NFT transaction. b) To send the NFT tap Send.

Please note: Sending an Ethereum NFT will require Ethereum (ETH) to power the transaction on the Ethereum network.

Your unsupported NFT has now been sent and as soon as the transaction confirms it will arrive in the receiving wallet.
