What is OpenSea?

OpenSea is the first and largest global NFT marketplace that functions on both the Ethereum and Solana blockchains. You can explore all kinds of NFTs, from collectibles to photography, to domain names, and more!

On OpenSea, you can:

  • Buy and list Ethereum NFTs at a fixed price
  • Customize your NFT marketplace
  • Set your own fee for secondary sales
  • Transfer NFTs from one wallet to another
  • View collection and item pages, properties, and stats
  • If you are a creator, you can edit your collection page and receive real-time creator earnings with up to four separate payout addresses

A key feature that sets OpenSea apart from other NFT marketplaces is its lack of escrow. In most NFT marketplaces, you'll need to transfer custody of an NFT to the marketplace before it can be sold. But with OpenSea, you don't need to escrow your Ethereum NFTs. The NFT will remain in your wallet until it is sold and sent to the buyer.

Most NFT marketplaces will only show you NFTs that are available for sale. In OpenSea, however, you can browse all NFTs in a collection whether they've been sold or not. OpenSea will also list the stats of the NFT and what percentage of NFTs in the collection share that characteristic.

If you don't have enough ETH to buy an NFT, OpenSea has an option to purchase more ETH with a card.
