How do I find a Transaction ID?

In this article, we explain what a Transaction ID is, show you how to find a Transaction ID for any asset inside of your Exodus wallet, and point to help articles on how to find Transaction IDs on other platforms.

We use Bitcoin as an example but the steps are the same for any asset in Exodus!

Your transaction identification (txid, tx hash) is located in each of your asset wallets. There is one Transaction ID for every action (send and receive) that happens.

What is a Transaction ID?

A Transaction ID, also known as a transaction hash, or a tx hash, or a txid, is a string of letters and numbers used to identify each unique transaction that occurs on the blockchain.

Transaction IDs will look a little different for each asset.

For example, here is a Bitcoin Transaction ID: 8741d088c4ae3b01417a954cf68aa1ab37d3cb8d550d999a126b5660bc9d5e62

And here is an Ethereum Transaction ID: 0xa6ccd529d3ee87405b0b6415b9d14682568f4a5f3d1b3239dd4417d43d86d574

If you have a Transaction ID, you can look it up on a block explorer to check on the status of the transaction. Depending on the asset, you may be able to see information such as how many confirmations the transaction has, the send address, the receive address, the amount of crypto transacted, the time at which the transaction took place, and the transaction fee, as well as any included memo or destination tag.

When you are looking up your Transaction ID, you can click or tap on the link inside your wallet, as shown below, or navigate to a block explorer, such as Blockchair, and paste in your Transaction ID to search it.

Different assets have different block explorers, so please make sure you are searching on the correct one! For example, if you search for a Bitcoin Transaction ID on a Ripple (XRP) block explorer, it will not display any information.
