What is OSMO staking?
Staking OSMO contributes to the stability and decentralization of the Osmosis network. Staking allows you to earn OSMO rewards, which can be claimed from your Exodus wallet.
With OSMO, you lock up an amount in your wallet to support the Osmosis network. Staked OSMO can't be sent or swapped.
However, you can unstake your OSMO whenever you choose. OSMO takes 14 days to finish unstaking.
OSMO staking is available on Exodus Mobile and Exodus Desktop.

What happens when I stake my OSMO?
Staking means pledging an amount of your OSMO to a validator. This makes you a delegator.
Osmosis validators process transactions on the Osmosis blockchain. The more OSMO delegated to a validator, the more transactions they get to validate, so the more rewards they earn. By delegating your tokens to the validator, you are voting for and signaling your trust in them.
The more transactions a validator validates, the more money they earn. From the earned rewards, they give back to everyone who delegated their OSMO to them. This is how you earn rewards on your staked OSMO.
How does staking work?
When you stake your OSMO, you choose how much of your OSMO you want to delegate to the validator above the minimum stake requirement of 0.1 OSMO.
Exodus will also reserve 0.0825 OSMO that stays unstaked in your wallet. This ensures you'll have enough to pay transaction fees when you unstake.
When you stake OSMO, you will immediately start accumulating rewards.
Staked OSMO can't be sent or swapped.
Staking new OSMO will automatically claim any unclaimed rewards, which will incur a network transaction fee.
Which validator will I be delegating my funds to?
When you stake OSMO in Exodus, you will be delegating your funds to our third-party staking API provider Everstake.

You can view the current approximate APY in your OSMO wallet.

The OSMO section will show a) your current APY in the top left corner and b) the APY if you choose to enable auto restaking.
Desktop
Your OSMO wallet will show your current APY in the top left corner.
Does Exodus charge a fee to stake?
You will pay network transaction fees when staking OSMO. 100% of these fees go to the Osmosis network.
There is a transaction fee for sending the delegation transaction when you first stake OSMO, and whenever you stake additional OSMO.
If you don't enable auto restaking, you'll pay transaction fees each time you claim OSMO rewards.
You will need to wait to claim your OSMO rewards until you have earned enough to cover the network transaction fee, because the transaction fee is deducted from the rewards.
Enabling auto restaking incurs a one-time transaction fee, but you won't pay transaction fees when your rewards are restaked.
Disabling auto restaking also charges a transaction fee.
What is the minimum amount I need to start staking?
The minimum amount to start staking is 0.1 OSMO.
There is also a minimum balance requirement of 0.0825 OSMO that you'll need to keep in your wallet. This is reserved to ensure you can pay Osmosis network transaction fees to stake, claim, and unstake.
When will I start earning rewards?
You will start to earn rewards on your OSMO as soon as you stake it.
If you opt into auto restaking, rewards of 0.1 OSMO or more will be automatically restaked once a week.
If you choose not to enable auto restaking, you can claim your OSMO rewards manually as long as the amount of the rewards is greater than the claim transaction fee.
Is staking OSMO safe?
Staking your OSMO is done in a self-custodial way in Exodus. That means it is as safe as holding OSMO in your wallet.
You keep full control over your OSMO while it's staked, and you're free to unstake whenever you choose.
Note that it will take 14 days after unstaking before your OSMO is available to send or swap.
How do I stake OSMO?
Mobile
Staked OSMO is locked, and it can't be sent or swapped. You can unstake OSMO anytime. Unstaking OSMO takes 14 days to complete.
In Exodus Mobile, a) tap the Profile icon, then b) tap Staking.
Tap Osmosis.
Tap Stake OSMO.
a) Enter the amount of OSMO you want to stake, then b) tap Stake OSMO.
You will be prompted to confirm the amount. To proceed, tap Stake.
Your OSMO has now been staked! On the confirmation screen, you can a) enable auto restaking, or b) tap Continue to return to your OSMO wallet.
Desktop
Staked OSMO is locked, and it can't be sent or swapped. You can unstake OSMO anytime. Unstaking OSMO takes 14 days to complete.
In Exodus Desktop, click the Rewards app.
Navigate to Osmosis (OSMO), then click Explore.
a) Enter the amount of OSMO you want to stake, then b) click Stake OSMO.
You will be prompted to confirm the amount. To proceed, click OK.
Your OSMO is now staked! Click OK to return to the Osmosis staking portal.
How does auto restaking work?
When you stake OSMO in Exodus Mobile, you have the option to enable auto restaking.
Auto restaking will automatically restake any earned OSMO rewards, which compounds your rewards without manually claiming and restaking them.
When auto restaking is enabled, your wallet will check your rewards balance once a week. If you have more than 0.1 OSMO in unclaimed rewards, they will automatically be restaked.
Enabling auto restaking will incur a network fee. However, once enabled, you won't pay transaction fees when your rewards are restaked.
While auto restaking is active, you can't claim your rewards manually. If you would prefer to manage your OSMO rewards manually, you can disable auto restaking at any time. Note that disabling auto restaking will also incur a transaction fee.
Auto restaking will expire after 1 year, at which point you will be prompted to enable auto restaking again.
How do I enable auto restaking?
Mobile
In Exodus Mobile, a) tap the Profile icon, then b) tap Staking.
Tap Osmosis.
Toggle on Auto Restaking.
Tap Enable to confirm.
Enabling auto restaking incurs a transaction fee.
To disable auto restaking, a) switch the toggle off. At the next prompt, b) tap Disable to confirm.
Disabling auto restaking incurs a transaction fee.
Desktop
In Exodus Desktop, click the Rewards app.
Navigate to where it says Osmosis (OSMO), then click Overview.
Click the toggle next to Auto Restaking on to enable it.
Click Enable to confirm.
Enabling auto restaking will incur a network transaction fee.
To disable auto restaking, a) click the toggle off, then b) click Disable to confirm.
Disabling auto restaking will incur a network transaction fee.
How does unstaking work?
When you decide to unstake OSMO, you can choose the amount you want to unstake.
That amount will become unbonding, and you will need to wait 14 days before you can access it. Unstaked OSMO does not earn rewards for the 14-day unbonding period.
When you unstake OSMO, any rewards will be auto-claimed.
You can unstake 7 times in a 14-day period. If you try to unstake more times than that, the unstake transaction will fail. You must wait for one of your previous unstaking entries to complete.
How do I unstake OSMO?
Mobile
In Exodus Mobile, a) tap the Profile icon, then b) tap Staking.
Tap Osmosis.
Tap Unstake OSMO.
a) Enter the amount of OSMO you want to unstake, then b) tap Unstake OSMO.
When you unstake OSMO, the unstaked amount becomes unbonding, and you will need to wait for 14 days before you can access your OSMO.
Desktop
In Exodus Desktop, click the Rewards app.
Navigate to Osmosis (OSMO), then click Get Reward.
a) Click the Unstake tab at the top, b) enter the amount of OSMO you want to unstake, and then c) click Unstake OSMO.
Click Unstake OSMO to confirm.
When you unstake OSMO, the unstaked amount becomes unbonding, and you will need to wait 14 days before you can access your OSMO.
How do I claim my OSMO rewards?
Mobile
In Exodus Mobile, a) tap the Profile icon, then b) tap Staking.
Tap Osmosis.
Tap Claim Reward.
Tap Claim.
Claiming OSMO rewards will incur a transaction fee.
A prompt will show the reward amount and the transaction fee. Tap Claim to confirm.
Desktop
In Exodus Desktop, click the Rewards app.
Navigate to Osmosis (OSMO), then click on Get Reward.
a) Click the Claim Reward tab, then b) click Claim Reward.
A prompt will display the rewards you'll receive. To continue back to your OSMO wallet, tap OK.
Claiming rewards will incur a network transaction fee.
