What is INJ staking?

Staking INJ means locking up a chosen amount of your INJ. Staked INJ can't be sent or swapped.

However, you can unstake your INJ whenever you choose. INJ takes 21 days to finish unstaking.

By staking your INJ, you actively support the Injective network by allocating resources to it and contributing to the stability of the Injective network. Staking allows you to earn INJ rewards, which can be claimed from your Exodus wallet.

You can only stake INJ on the Injective network. Staking is not available in Exodus for INJ on the Binance Smart Chain network.

Staking INJ FAQs

What happens when I stake INJ?

Staking means pledging an amount of your INJ to a validator. This makes you a delegator.

Injective validators validate and approve transactions on the Injective blockchain. By delegating your tokens to the validator, you are voting for and signaling your trust in them.

The more transactions a validator validates, the more money they earn. From the earned rewards, they give back to everyone who delegated their INJ to them. This is how you earn rewards on staked INJ.

How does staking work?

When you stake INJ, you choose how much INJ you want to delegate to the validator.

You can stake any amount of INJ that's more than the minimum reserve plus the transaction fee. The amount immediately starts accumulating rewards.

Staked INJ can't be sent or swapped.

Exodus will reserve 0.000687 INJ that stays in your wallet. This ensures that you'll have enough INJ available to pay the transaction fee when you unstake.

Staking new INJ will automatically claim any unclaimed rewards.

Which validator will I be delegating my funds to?

When you stake INJ in Exodus, you will be delegating your funds to our third-party staking API provider Everstake.

How much can I earn from staking INJ?

To learn more about Annual Percentage Yield (APY), please visit: What is APY?

You can view the current approximate APY in your INJ wallet.

Mobile

Your INJ stake section will show a) your current APY and b) the APY if you choose to enable auto restaking.

Desktop

Your INJ wallet will show your current APY in the top left corner.

Does Exodus charge a fee to stake INJ?

You will pay network transaction fees when staking INJ. 100% of these fees go to the Injective network.

There are transaction fees to stake and unstake INJ.

If you choose not to enable auto restaking, you'll also pay a transaction fee to claim INJ rewards.

You will need to wait to claim your INJ rewards until you have earned enough to cover the network transaction fee, because the transaction fee is deducted from the rewards.

Enabling auto restaking charges a network transaction fee to register the auto restaking request to the network. However, if you enable auto restaking, you won't pay transaction fees when your rewards are restaked.

Disabling auto restaking also charges a network transaction fee.

What is the minimum amount I need to start staking?

You can stake any amount of INJ above the minimum reserve of 0.000687 INJ plus the transaction fee.

The minimum balance of 0.000687 INJ is required to ensure you can pay the Injective network transaction fee to unstake.

When will I start earning rewards?

You will start to earn rewards on your INJ as soon as you stake it.

If you opt into auto restaking, your rewards will automatically be restaked once they reach 0.001 INJ.

If you choose not to enable auto restaking, you can claim your INJ rewards manually as long as the amount of the rewards is greater than the claim transaction fee.

Is staking INJ safe?

Staking your INJ is done in a self-custodial way in Exodus. That means it is as safe as holding INJ in your wallet.

You keep full control over your INJ while it's staked, and you're free to unstake your funds whenever you choose.

Note that it will take 21 days after unstaking before your INJ is available to send or swap.

How does auto restaking work?

When you stake INJ, you can enable Auto Restaking.

When auto restaking is enabled, your wallet will check your rewards balance once a week. If you have more than 0.001 INJ in unclaimed rewards, they will automatically be restaked.

Enabling auto restaking will incur a network fee. However, once enabled, you won't pay transaction fees when your rewards are restaked.

While auto restaking is active, you will not be able to claim your rewards manually. If you would prefer to manage your INJ rewards manually, you can disable auto restaking at any time. Note that disabling auto restaking will also incur a transaction fee.

The amount you choose to unstake will become unbonding, and you will need to wait 21 days before you can access your INJ. Unstaked INJ does not earn rewards for the 21-day unbonding period.

When you unstake your INJ, any unclaimed rewards will be auto-claimed.

You can unstake 7 times in a 21-day period. If you try to unstake more times than that, the unstake transaction will fail. You must wait for one of your previous unstaking entries to complete.
